Drainer

South Western Pipe and Civil is a civil and infrastructure construction company. Our works are primarily delivered within the oil and gas sector, including the installation of gas pipeline infrastructure in public road, reserves, as well as the construction and maintenance of gas regulator stations and associated civil infrastructure.

We work in collaboration with contractors and infrastructure clients to deliver safe, high-quality utility services.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Drainer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out drainage and pipe installation works associated with civil infrastructure and gas pipeline projects.

This role requires experience in trenching, pipe laying, and installation of underground services in accordance with engineering plans, safety requirements, and project specifications.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Drainer will be responsible for:

• Excavating and preparing trenches for the installation of pipes and underground services
• Installing stormwater, sewer, and drainage systems in accordance with specifications
• Assisting with installation of pipelines in public roads, road reserves
• Supporting construction of gas regulator stations and associated underground services infrastructure
• Reading and interpreting site plans, drawings, and level indicators
• Setting out and checking levels using laser levels and surveying equipment
• Bedding, laying, joining, and sealing pipes using approved methods and materials
• Backfilling trenches and compacting materials to required standards
• Working safely around live services and congested underground utilities
• Operating and assisting with civil construction plant and hand tools
• Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS) and environmental procedures
• Conducting site preparation and reinstatement works including road and surface restoration
• Collaborating with supervisors, engineers, and other trades on site

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Minimum 1 years’ experience as Drainer or in a similar role within civil construction
• Proven experience in underground service installation
• Certificate III or relevant trade qualification, 3 years relevant experience may substitute formal qualifications
• Functional English

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
