About The Role
As an Older Adult Mental Health Clinician, you will make a meaningful difference in the lives of older people experiencing complex mental health needs. Through person-centred, recovery-oriented care, you will build trusted relationships and support consumers to maintain connection, independence and wellbeing in the places they call home.
In this team, you will bring your clinical expertise to a supportive multidisciplinary environment. You will work alongside consumers, families, carers and kin, recognising each person's individual story, strengths and goals to provide trauma-informed, evidence-based care across acute and non-acute settings.
With a strong focus on clinical excellence, learning, research translation and mental health reform, you will have opportunities to grow your practice, share your expertise and help shape better experiences and outcomes for older people and their families.
Key Accountabilities
Deliver expert mental health assessment, treatment and recovery-focused interventions for older adults with complex needs.Build meaningful partnerships with consumers, families and carers to support recovery, wellbeing and positive outcomes.Work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary team while exercising clinical judgement and autonomy in your practice.Contribute to clinical leadership, supervision and discipline-specific practice, supporting students and colleagues where required.Champion safe, evidence-based mental health care and contribute to service improvement, professional development and a positive team culture.
About You
You will be an experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurse, offering:
2+ years' postgraduate experience in mental health assessment and treatment.Experience supporting older adults with mental illness, dementia and complex psychosocial needs.Strong clinical assessment, risk management and care planning skills.Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with consumers, families and carers.Confidence working autonomously, using sound clinical judgement and evidence-based practice.A collaborative approach and commitment to professional development and continuous learning.Current AHPRA registration, relevant mental health qualifications and a driver's licence.
