Dental State Manager

About the role

The objective of the Dental State Manager is to provide leadership and guidance to dental employees in addition to creating and maintaining efficient standardised operations and deliver profitable centres. As a Primary People Leader, the Dental State Manager understands the value of people and ensures the engagement and retention of employees and Dentists are placed as a high priority.

With more than 20 dental locations across NSW, the portfolio is substantial. Responsibility for the state is therefore divided between two State Managers, with each taking full ownership and accountability for their own cohort of approximately half the NSW network.

This is a genuine State Manager opportunity with significant operational, commercial and people leadership responsibility.

The Opportunity

As State Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of dental locations across NSW, leading their operational and financial performance while building highly engaged teams and strong relationships with dentists and other key stakeholders.

You will work alongside the existing NSW State Manager, with the two of you collectively providing leadership across the broader NSW network while maintaining clear accountability for your respective portfolios.

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution – understanding what is happening at practice level while maintaining a broader commercial view of the portfolio.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Full operational leadership of your allocated NSW dental portfolio

• Delivering against financial budgets, growth objectives and operational KPIs

• Leading, coaching and developing dental operational leaders and their teams

• Building strong engagement with dentists, clinicians and employees

• Driving improvements in productivity, chair utilisation, appointment books, patient numbers, retention and workforce efficiency

• Identifying opportunities to improve profitability without compromising patient, clinician or employee experience

• Developing and executing strategies to improve portfolio performance

• Creating greater consistency in processes, standards and patient experience across locations

• Leading change and continuous improvement initiatives

• Maintaining high standards of clinical governance, accreditation, quality and compliance

• Partnering with senior leadership and functions, including People & Culture and Finance

• Representing the organisation effectively across the broader dental industry

About You

We are looking for a high-calibre dental leader with the commercial capability, leadership presence and industry credibility to take ownership of a significant multi-site portfolio.

Importantly, previous experience within the dental industry is essential.

You are likely to have held a State, Regional, Area or senior multi-site leadership position within a dental organisation and can demonstrate success leading performance across multiple practices.

You will bring:

• Strong dental industry experience

• Proven multi-site operational leadership capability

• Excellent commercial and financial acumen

• Experience managing budgets, P&Ls and performance metrics

• A track record of improving operational and financial performance

• Strong people leadership, coaching and mentoring capability

• The ability to engage and influence dentists and other healthcare professionals

• Experience building high-performance, highly engaged teams

• Strong strategic planning and execution capability

• Confidence leading change and continuous improvement

• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills

• The ability to balance competing priorities across multiple locations

• An engaging and credible leadership style

You will be someone who understands that strong commercial performance and great healthcare operations are fundamentally driven by people, relationships and execution.
