We are seeking flexible, dynamic individuals with a strong passion for delivering exceptional customer service to support the University’s in-person final exams across the CBD campus, Adelaide Showgrounds and Roseworthy campus. This casual role is an excellent opportunity to apply your customer service experience, strong attention to detail, confidence using technology and excellent communication skills to create a positive and supportive exam experience for students during one of the most important events of their academic year.

Work that matters

As an Examination Invigilator, you will play an important role in ensuring examinations are conducted smoothly, professionally and in accordance with established policies and procedures.

You will assist with preparing examination venues, supporting students throughout the examination process and maintaining a calm, compliant and positive environment. The role requires a high level of mental alertness and concentration, along with physical agility, including the ability to move furniture and equipment, lift items and navigate narrow aisles.

You will regularly work with students who may be experiencing stress or anxiety. Your calm, approachable and customer-focused manner will be essential as you provide a high level of service while working effectively under pressure.

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate discretion, integrity, professionalism and attention to detail, with the ability to consistently follow examination policies and procedures.

Availability is essential, with an expectation that you will be available to work across the main examination periods scheduled throughout the year. Examination sessions are allocated across Monday to Saturday.

Should you be successful in securing a role you will be required to attend a compulsory paid training session prior to each main exam event.

Core Responsibilities:

• Under instruction of the Chief Invigilator(s), prepare the examination venue. This includes:

• Setting up examination papers and invigilator materials;
• Using office equipment for accessing data, printing and copying;
• Arranging examination desks and chairs in the examination area.

• Contribute to a calm, quiet examination environment that optimises the student experience.
• Supervise students during examinations and manage non-compliance, academic integrity or other issues which may arise.
• Assist with the provision of Alternative Exam Arrangements for students. This includes setting up and working with various approved equipment including laptops.
• Verify student identification through the checking of student IDs, collection of attendance slips and completed examination papers.
• Comply with examination rules and procedures stipulated in the Invigilator Training Guide and other university policies and procedures.

The responsibilities as specified above may be altered in accordance with the changing requirements of the position.

Experience:

• Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality customer service, with the ability to interact professionally and sensitively with students, University staff and members of the public.
• Confident use of computers and office equipment, including the ability to navigate different platforms and undertake basic troubleshooting.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions, work independently with minimal supervision, and contribute effectively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with a diverse range of people.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Requirements:

• Shifts will be rostered between Monday to Saturday, between the hours of 7:30 am and 10:30pm.
• Full availability during the specified examination periods is preferred.
• This role will involve standing for long periods of time (up to five (5) hours) whilst maintaining mental alertness and concentration and moving within narrow aisles.
• This role will involve physically setting up the venue including arranging exam furniture and moving boxes of exam papers.
