Senior Information Governance Specialist

We're looking for a Senior Information Governance Specialist to join Western Power on a 12-month fixed-term contract, playing a key role in safeguarding our information.

In this role, you'll help shape and strengthen information compliance across the organisation by supporting the development and implementation of strategies, systems and practices that ensure alignment with the requirements of the State Records Act 2000 and associated standards. Beyond compliance, you'll be a trusted advisor to the business, providing guidance and support that enables teams to manage information confidently and effectively.

Your Role in Action

• Deliver records and information management improvement initiatives that strengthen compliance and align with Western Power's strategic priorities.
• Provide practical advice and support to stakeholders on information management requirements, recordkeeping obligations, retention schedules, policies and procedures.
• Develop and deliver information management training and awareness activities, supporting greater understanding of legislative and organisational obligations across the business.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with Information Management Coordinators (IMCs) and business stakeholders to promote consistent information management practices and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support Western Power's compliance with the State Records Act, Record Keeping Plan and broader information management framework, ensuring appropriate controls and governance are maintained.
• Coordinate the retrieval and provision of records and information for Freedom of Information requests, legal discovery matters, investigations and requests from regulators and external parties.
• Manage competing priorities to meet legislative and business deadlines while maintaining a high standard of service and support.
• Contribute to a range of information management services, including retention assessments, offsite storage administration, business enquiries, compliance reporting, library and copyright services, and the maintenance of information management resources.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Experience in information management, records management, compliance, auditing, legal services or a related discipline, with the ability to apply your knowledge in a practical business environment.
• Sound understanding of information and records management principles, including experience working with SharePoint, electronic document and records management systems (EDRMS) and archival practices.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information, build trust with stakeholders and provide high-quality customer support.
• Proven ability to develop effective working relationships and influence positive information management practices across a diverse stakeholder group.
• Working knowledge of information management legislation, standards and regulatory requirements, with the ability to apply these in a compliance-focused environment.
• Strong attention to detail and discretion, supported by strong digital literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
