This is a Level 3 position. However, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflect the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.

Where you'll be working

The Tamworth Community Health Child and family allied health team are a vibrant, multidisciplinary team working with children, young people, and families (0-17 years of age) in the Tamworth community. The occupational therapy service includes a level 3, and two level 1-2 occupational therapy positions. The Occupational therapy services work alongside other child and family services including speech pathologists, physiotherapists, dietitians and psychologist. Services work together to support a holistic therapeutic response to families in the community

The Opportunity

On a daily basis, you would be working with the paediatric Allied Health community services to complete assessments and therapy for paediatric populations in the area of child development, motor skills, Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s), sensory processing, behaviour, visual perception and learning difficulties. This role works predominantly with children aged 0-12 years in the community setting, including home visiting, offsite and outreach appointments to small communities.

The Child and Family Occupational Therapy Service also provides in reach to Children’s ward for equipment prescription and modification recommendations for safe discharge and pressure care, and on occasions the Special Care Nursery. If you are a senior occupational therapist, you would provide day to day clinical support to Level 1-2 paediatric occupational therapists.

This position is operationally managed by the Child and Family Allied Health Team Manager. The position can access clinical support from the HNELHD Northern Sector Occupational Therapy Clinical Lead. If the successful applicant is a level 1-2 clinician they will receive day to day clinical support from the level 3 occupational therapist. Depending on years of experience you will receive fortnightly or monthly clinical supervision with a senior paediatric occupational therapist.
