About the role
We are seeking a friendly, organised and reliable Ward Clerk to join our Ward team on a full-time, fixed-term basis, providing maternity leave cover from September 2026 to September 2027.
The Ward Clerk will provide essential administrative and clerical support to the ward, working closely with patients, families, nursing staff, allied health professionals and medical teams to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the ward.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills, strong attention to detail, a professional and compassionate approach, and the ability to work effectively in a busy healthcare environment.
Previous hospital or healthcare administration experience is desirable; however, we welcome applications from candidates who demonstrate the right skills, attitude and commitment to providing excellent patient and team support.
Key Responsibilities
Manage incoming calls and enquiriesProvide timely information to staff and departmentsSupport patient admissions, discharges and documentationMaintain patient admission papers and clinical recordsWork collaboratively with patients, visitors and the multidisciplinary team

You’ll bring a friendly, empathetic and professional approach, with the ability to thrive in a busy ward environment.

Strong communication and customer service skillsComputer literacy, including Microsoft OfficeMedical administration or patient-facing experiencePatient Management System experience (desirable)Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
