About the role
This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2027
Catering specifically for years 11 and 12, our students at Mindarie Senior College (SC) are strongly engaged in all facets of their learning. The Role
Mindarie SC is seeking an enthusiastic and Outdoor Health and Physical Education (HPE) Teacher to permanently join their team. Qualifications in Abseiling and top rope guide, Mountain Biking, Paddling, Surf Rescue, and roping being seen as important to performing the role. Additionally, Cert IV in training and assessment, a bus licence and first aid qualifications would be desirable given the practical elements of the course.
Mindarie’s Outdoor Education Curriculum is extensive with offsite activities and camps, supported by an Outdoor Ed Technician to maintain the excellent resources/equipment.
As an Outdoor HPE Teacher, you will participate as an integral member of the HPE learning area and be responsible for supporting the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, providing learning programs to students suited to the needs of the school community, and modelling exemplary teaching and learning strategies in your delivery. As such, the successful applicant should possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics.
As a valuable member of the teaching staff, the successful applicant would be responsible for educational outcomes within the school's Outdoor curriculum, and may be required to teach other courses within the Learning Area. Ideally, we are seeking applicants who have the skills to build positive, caring relationships with students.
The successful applicant will also ideally be a dedicated and highly motivated educator with an excellent knowledge of the Senior School Western Australian Curriculum and be able to deliver content in an engaging manner and be a highly effective team member. As a reflective practitioner, the successful applicant should possess effective data literacy and a capacity to modify their practice to meet identified student needs. The capacity to engage in the development and implementation of innovative classroom practices, including integration of information technology into the curriculum, is highly desirable. Pastoral care also remains a highly desirable aspect of the role.
