Behaviour Support Practitioner

Bethel Therapy is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and motivated Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our growing team. This role involves working closely with children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities, complex support needs, trauma backgrounds, and behaviours of concern across home, school, respite, SIL, and community environments.

The successful applicant will play a key role in assessing behaviours of concern, developing person-centred Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs), and implementing practical strategies that improve quality of life, reduce restrictive practices, and build participant capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct functional behaviour assessments (FBA) and behavioural observations
• Develop Interim and Comprehensive PBSPs in line with NDIS requirements
• Deliver person-centred, trauma-informed, and evidence-based interventions
• Work collaboratively with participants, families, schools, support workers, allied health professionals, and stakeholders
• Provide behaviour support training and mentoring to support teams
• Collect, analyse, and interpret behaviour data to guide intervention planning
• Reduce and eliminate restrictive practices using least restrictive approaches
• Complete clinical documentation, reports, and case notes to a high standard
• Participate in stakeholder meetings, case reviews, and multidisciplinary collaboration
• Support participants to build independence, emotional regulation, communication, and community participation skills

Essential Criteria

• Relevant qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Behavioural Science, or related field
• NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner suitability (Core, Proficient, Advanced or Specialist) or ability to become suitable
• Experience working with people with disability, mental health presentations, trauma, ASD, ADHD, intellectual disability, or complex behaviours
• Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and restrictive practice requirements
• Excellent communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for community visits
• Current Yellow Card/NDIS Worker Screening and Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable

• Experience within the NDIS sector
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants and culturally diverse communities
• Knowledge of trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming practice
• Experience delivering staff training and stakeholder education
