About your new position:

Are you an experienced senior leader with a strong background in operational delivery, strategic planning, and remote Aboriginal community engagement?

As the General Manager – Homelands Engagement, you will lead BHAC’s Homelands engagement, planning, and service coordination functions. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will ensure Homelands priorities are understood, culturally informed, and translated into practical operational plans, funding outcomes, and coordinated service delivery. Connecting priorities across Homelands, Construction, Workshop, Civil, Operations, and Property Services, you will drive continuous improvement while maintaining a whole-of-Homelands view of housing, infrastructure, and access.

Key Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction, work plans, and service targets across housing, civil, workshop, and construction operations. Work closely with the GM Community Services to ensure cross-team collaboration.

• Build and maintain respectful relationships with members, Traditional Owners, community leaders, the Board, government agencies, and partners, ensuring engagement is culturally appropriate and informs service priorities.

• Provide senior oversight of grant-funded housing, homelands, and construction programs. Oversee budgets, procurement, acquittals, and compliance while ensuring efficient workflow systems (such as ServiceM8, WorkshopM8 and other asset management systems) are fully integrated.

• Lead and mentor direct reports through clear expectations and regular performance management. Promote WHS, positive culture and compliance while actively strengthening training, mentoring, and career progression pathways for Aboriginal staff and local leaders.

About You

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in management, infrastructure, construction, governance, project management, or community development.

• Experience living and working in a remote community or Homelands context.

• Demonstrated cultural competency and proven experience working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, leaders, and communities.

• Senior leadership experience in a complex operational, construction, infrastructure, land management, or remote community service delivery environment.

• Proven track record translating strategy into practical plans, service levels, budgets, and reporting frameworks.

• Experience overseeing grant-funded programs, contracts, procurement, acquittals, compliance, and WHS/quality standards.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Driver’s License, Police Check, Working with Children Check and Northern Land Council Permit.
