Civil Design Engineer

We are looking for a proactive, skilled Civil Design Engineer to join our team in a permanent full-time capacity.

Your new role 

The Civil Design Engineer is responsible for investigating, coordinating feature surveys, and preparing designs and documentation for a range of municipal engineering projects, including drainage, roads, intersections, car parks, pathways, and cycle paths. Our team actively use Civil 3D, 12D and AutoCAD software.

Reporting to the Principal Traffic and Design Coordinator within the Street Improvement team, the role involves developing engineering design drawings, reviewing strategic traffic and transport plans, and engaging with the community on proposed infrastructure initiatives, contributing to the Town’s vision of a more empowered, inclusive, and connected community.

What you’ll need to succeed 

• Degree in Civil Engineering desirable or minimum Diploma qualification in related engineering field
• Extensive knowledge and interpretation of relevant legislation, standards and codes
• Well-developed civil design skills (Civil 3D or 12D and Autocad)
• Effective communication skills and emotional intelligence are required to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders
• Capacity to creatively work cross functionally
• Previous experience in Civil Engineering Design and Transport Planning role
• Experience working within Local Government (desirable)
