Electrician - Day/Nightshift

Interested in an electrician role that has you working out in the field on road network related assets? 

This is the perfect opportunity to broaden your skills in this unique industry of electrical road infrastructure.

This role has the primary responsibility for the construction of traffic lights with an element of maintenance, and inspection of traffic lights, message boards, traffic counters, emergency phones, school zone signs and other highways electrical systems.

You will be responsible for performing construction and reconstruction of traffic lights in line with Yunex Traffic, legislative and customer contractual requirements. Maintenance works can be of a planned or reactive nature, and you will have the ability to respond to a changing environment. 

The working pattern will be predominantly nights with some day shift when required but this can change depending on customer requirements, overtime is also available.

Areas of responsibility and tasks

• Construction and reconstruction of assets, such as Traffic Control Signals (TCS), Variable Message Signs (VMS) and Hazard warning signs (AWS, VSLS) etc.  

• Electrical testing of roadside related electrical assets.  

• Preparation of equipment prior to final installation e.g., Traffic Signal Controllers or vehicle detection systems. 

• Commissioning of ITS (Intelligent Traffic Systems) assets. 

• Installation or modification of new and existing ITS (Intelligent Traffic Systems) assets. 

• Successful completion of mandatory technical or safety related training.

• Undertake appropriate training with the addition of new equipment and systems as and when necessary, via formal and informal training, including on the job training.

• Liaising with customers and other contractors that may be on site. 

• Ensuring works are completed in accordance with the site specification, in a timely manner and to a high-quality level. 

• Conduct yourself in accordance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, all employees have a duty to comply with all Health and Safety Procedures and to be alert in identifying potential hazards by removing or minimising them wherever possible 

• Any other duties reasonably practicable within the skills required for the role

Knowledge & Skills

The key competencies and capabilities for this role are:

• Training will be provided where required in the relevant asset categories.

• High level of communication skills, both verbal and written, will be necessary as you will be expected to liaise with other parts of the business and with customers

• Ability to achieve objectives with strict deadlines and manage your own workload

• Outlook - co-operative, helpful, willing to use initiative and conscientious. 

• Flexibility - willing to change, move from one activity or work area to another, learn new activities, pick up new jobs confidently and easily.

• Must be physically fit as this role requires a certain element of manual handling.

Preferred experience

It is desirable but not mandatory to have a technical understanding in some / all the following: 

• Previous experience in groundwork for the installation of pit and pipe.

• Control wiring experience, including interpreting wiring diagrams

• Knowledge of traffic light systems.

Required Qualifications

• Driving Licence (Full)

• NSW Electrical licence 

• White card
