Senior Bookkeeper

About the role C & H Accounting Group is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper to join our team on a full-time basis in Montmorency and Doreen offices. This is a strategic position within our accounting practice where you will take ownership of bookkeeping operations and play a key role in delivering high-quality financial services to our diverse client base. As a Senior Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing complex bookkeeping tasks, managing a small team of bookkeepers, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Xero & MYOB knowledge is a must.
Key responsibilities Manage full bookkeeping operations for multiple clients, including data entry, account reconciliation, transaction recording, and BAS lodgement.Prepare and review financial statements, trial balances, and other accounting reportsReconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts on a regular basisProcess accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with accuracy and attention to detailMaintain organised and compliant bookkeeping records and documentationMentor and supervise junior bookkeeping staff, providing guidance and trainingLiaise with clients to clarify accounting information and resolve discrepanciesUtilise accounting software and systems to record and manage financial dataEnsure compliance with tax regulations and accounting standards in all bookkeeping activitiesIdentify process improvements and implement efficient bookkeeping procedures
What we're looking for Minimum 5+ years of bookkeeping experience in a professional accounting environmentAdvanced proficiency with accounting software platforms such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooksStrong knowledge of general ledger management, bank reconciliations, and financial reportingDemonstrated experience managing multiple clients and meeting tight deadlinesExcellent attention to detail and accuracy with numerical dataProven ability to work independently whilst also collaborating effectively as part of a teamExperience mentoring or supervising junior bookkeeping staff is highly desirableSound understanding of Australian tax and superannuation compliance requirementsExcellent organisational and time management skillsStrong communication and client liaison abilitiesProfessional certification such as Diploma in accounting and bookkeeping
