Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Japanese Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. Our restaurant accommodates 60 seats, offering an intimate yet fast-paced dining experience. You will be responsible for preparing high-quality, authentic Japanese dishes, ensuring consistency, speed, and exceptional presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients for the sushi bar, hot kitchen, and tempura stations daily.
• Cooking: Execute traditional Japanese cooking techniques including grilling (Yakimitori/Robata), frying (Tempura), and simmering.
• Plating: Ensure all dishes meet restaurant standards for traditional Japanese aesthetic presentation.
• Station Management: Maintain clean, sanitized, and organized work stations throughout service.
• Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, rotate ingredients using FIFO, and minimize food waste.
• Collaboration: Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service for our 60 guests.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to local food health and safety regulations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 1 years of experience cooking in a commercial Japanese kitchen.
• Technique: Proven proficiency in Japanese knife skills (Hōchōjutsu) and cooking methods.
• Efficiency: Ability to work quickly and accurately during high-volume peak dinner rushes.
• Stamina: Capability to stand for long periods and work in a high-temperature environment.
• Teamwork: Strong cooperative mindset to work alongside sushi chefs and kitchen hands.
• Flexibility: Availability to work nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

• Trade certificate
• Valid food handler's safety certificate.

Pay: From $78,000.00 per year
