About the role
We believe everyone should have a safe, secure and affordable home.
We’re a small but mighty not-for-profit with a national reach, raising funds through campaigns like CafeSmart, DineSmart, and SleepSafe, and our ongoing work with philanthropy, the corporate sector and wider community.
We have distributed grants and material to over 1,000 local organisations since 2003 and have a strong focus on also raising awareness, building capacity and widening understanding and education of homelessness in Australia. We know local leaders, volunteers and community groups are best placed to identify what support their communities need, and have solutions and mechanisms in place that work for them and their community.
They are the lifeblood of so many suburbs, towns and regions and play a critical role in creating caring and resilient communities and that's why we believe in keeping our impact local and grassroots.
We see the role of StreetSmart as a supportive and responsive ally for those on the frontline of service delivery to the most vulnerable in our community. These front-line services are often under-resourced, have limited fundraising capacity and find making formal applications for funding challenging. Our evidence-based, data-driven approach to impact ensures that our grant making addresses emerging trends, vulnerable cohorts and regions with high rates of homelessness.
The Fundraising and Campaigns Manager plays a key role in growing StreetSmart Australia’s fundraising reach, revenue and impact, with ownership of the strategy, development and performance of our community fundraising portfolio.
Central to the role is leading the next phase of StreetSmart’s flagship campaigns, including the continued growth of CafeSmart, the reimagining and relaunch of DineSmart, and the development of a new national fundraising campaign designed to broaden our reach, participation and revenue. This includes setting campaign strategy and targets, developing compelling propositions and supporter journeys, and using data and insights to drive growth and continuous improvement.
The portfolio also encompasses StreetSmart’s collective giving and public fundraising activity, including appeals, community and peer-to-peer fundraising, supporter-led initiatives and events. There is plenty of scope to identify, test and develop new fundraising opportunities that strengthen both immediate revenue and StreetSmart’s long-term sustainability.
While this role owns the strategy, delivery is highly collaborative. Working closely with our part-time Communications and Marketing Coordinator and Supporter Experience Officer, the Manager will set direction and coordinate activity across campaigns, communications, marketing and supporter engagement, alongside external creative and digital partners.
Working with the CEO and Impact team, you'll connect fundraising activity with StreetSmart’s broader strategy and grant-making impact, helping mobilise more people and businesses to generate greater funding for grassroots homelessness organisations across Australia.
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated fundraising or campaigns professional who can think strategically, spot opportunities and turn great ideas into action alongside an understanding of what drives acquisition, participation, engagement, retention and income.
A strong track record across fundraising campaigns, appeals or revenue-generating programs is important, with experience in community or peer-to-peer fundraising, events or collective giving highly regarded. An affinity with hospitality and community-led fundraising would be a real advantage - but most importantly, we are looking for someone that can deliver on new or existing projects.
Commercially minded and data-informed, you’re comfortable setting targets, managing budgets and using results to improve performance. Just as importantly, you’re a great relationship builder who can set direction, bring people together and get the best from colleagues, partners, businesses, volunteers and supporters.
We’re looking for someone creative, curious and ambitious who is excited by the chance to grow established campaigns, build something new and play a meaningful role in StreetSmart’s next phase of growth.
Click "Apply Now" and follow the prompts to submit your application. Interviews are being taken on a rolling basis, so please apply as soon as possible.
Please note, this is full-time, permanent role offered with the possibility for evolution of the role, aligned to your career objectives.
StreetSmart Australia is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ people, people with lived experience of homelessness and intersectional issues, and culturally and linguistically diverse people are strongly encouraged to apply. We are happy to adjust our recruitment process to support accessibility needs.
