Community Connector

Join MacKillop's Family Services team as a Community Connector and help strengthen outcomes for children, young people and families.

This opportunity sits within the Family Preservation and Reunification Response (FPRR), a Victorian Government-funded program designed to be delivered through a mobile and integrated approach, to prevent children at risk from entering or re-entering out-of-home care.

As a Community Connector, you will strengthen pathways between families and local services, helping them access education, employment, housing, community groups and other supports that build long-term stability and wellbeing. Working alongside Family Services practitioners, you will foster strong community partnerships and empower families to develop the skills, connections and confidence needed to thrive independently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build and maintain community partnerships that create pathways to housing, education, employment, health and wellbeing supports.
• Connect families with community groups, activities, and services to strengthen inclusion, participation and wellbeing.
• Provide consultation, resources and training to enhance practitioner knowledge of community services and referral pathways.
• Collaborate with Family Services providers and community stakeholders to improve outcomes for children, young people and families.
• Maintain knowledge of local services and develop resources that improve access to community supports.

This is a Fixed full time (38 hours per week) contract until 30/06/2027 opportunity based in Mildura within our Resorting Families Program. The position reports to the Family Services Coordinator.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Significant work experience in a relevant field which supports an understanding of community development, key child development issues relating to young parents and their families who have complex needs.
• Well-developed understanding of the FPRR and/or family services and the needs of the families engaged in the program.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines, targets, and key deliverables of the program.
• Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers, staff and other stakeholders, as well as initiative and effective personal judgement when working alone.

You must have a:

• Valid and current Driver’s Licence.
• Valid and current Working with Children Card.
• Valid and current NDIS Worker Check (for NDIS risk assessed roles).
• Satisfactory criminal history check conducted by MacKillop Family Services.
