About the RoleThis role has broad scope across policy development, advocacy, community education and project delivery, including supporting affordable housing outcomes through the delivery of Council’s Affordable Housing Policy.You will drive evidence-based policy, lead projects, and collaborate across Council and with external partners to improve community wellbeing.
What You’ll deliverProject manage and support the implementation and evaluation of social policies, strategies and action plans, with a focus on affordable housing and homelessnessManage multi-stakeholder projects, ensuring alignment with Council priorities and measurable outcomesDeliver community education and engagement activities to raise awareness and strengthen outcomesProvide expert policy advice, including data analysis, social impact assessments and evidence-based recommendationsLead advocacy, submissions and briefings to influence policy and investment outcomesSupport and facilitate affordable housing delivery initiatives, including partnerships and Council-led opportunitiesBuild strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government, community organisations and housing providersMonitor, evaluate and continuously improve policies, programs and strategic initiatives
What You’ll BringQualifications and experience in social/public policy, urban planning, public health or a related fieldDemonstrated experience project managing complex strategic projectsStrong experience in affordable housing, homelessness or related policy areas.Deep understanding of policy and legislative environments across Local, State and Federal levelsKnowledge of social and commercial determinants of health and how planning levers influence community outcomes.Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.Highly developed analytical, communication and influencing capabilities.Ability to deliver innovative, evidence-based solutions and high-quality written advice.Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, and Eligibility to Work check.
