About the role
Borg is a privately owned Australian group employing more than 3,500 people across Australia and New Zealand, with operations spanning manufacturing, construction, property, recycling and infrastructure.
The Group regularly delivers large-scale construction projects across its manufacturing, industrial and property assets, engaging a broad range of contractors, consultants and suppliers. This role will play a key part in supporting the legal and commercial aspects of these projects, with a strong focus on construction contracts, procurement, risk management and project delivery.
Reporting to the General Counsel, you will work closely with senior leaders, project managers and commercial stakeholders, providing practical, commercially focused legal advice across the Group's construction and contracting activities.
This is a hands-on role offering significant exposure to contract negotiation, project delivery, dispute management and related commercial matters within a large and diverse private business.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal advice on construction, procurement and commercial contract matters.Draft, review and negotiate head contracts, subcontracts, consultancy agreements, supply agreements and other project-related documentation.Advise stakeholders on contractual risk, variations, extensions of time, claims, disputes and contract administration issues.Support tendering, procurement and contractor engagement activities across the Group.Work closely with project, commercial and executive teams to facilitate successful project delivery.Assist with development, planning, regulatory and compliance matters connected to construction projects.Manage external legal advisers where required.Support governance, compliance and broader in-house legal activities across the Group.
Who You Are
Qualified Australian lawyer with approximately 2-5 years PAE.Experience in construction or contracts law gained in private practice or in-house.Strong drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.Commercially minded and capable of delivering practical, business-focused advice.Comfortable managing multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.Able to build strong relationships with executives and operational stakeholders.Dispute resolution and risk management skills.
