Employment Status: Permanent, full time
Days & Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, totalling 38 hours per week
Competitive Salary: Band 6 - $105,907 – $115,552 p.a. (depending on experience) + 12% superannuation
Location: Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home

About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Asset Officer to play a key role in strengthening Council’s asset data, systems and reporting capability. In this role, you will help ensure our asset information is accurate, reliable and fit for purpose, supporting better planning, evidence-based investment decisions and improved outcomes for the community. You will manage condition assessment contracts, support asset valuation processes and apply your technical knowledge of civil assets to validate and drive continuous improvement across capital works planning and delivery.

You will be responsible for:

• Maintain and improve high-quality asset data by supporting best-practice asset structures, coordinating data updates and migrations, and ensuring asset information is accurate, reliable and fit for purpose across the asset lifecycle.
• Analyse asset condition, performance and risk to support evidence-based maintenance and renewal planning, helping identify service gaps, infrastructure risks and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Support asset valuations and strategic reporting by preparing accurate asset data in collaboration with Finance, ensuring transparent, compliant and timely reporting for internal and external requirements.
• Provide technical advice and stakeholder support on asset lifecycle requirements, the use of systems and capital works planning, helping align asset data with Council’s long-term financial and corporate objectives.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

• Degree or diploma in engineering, IT, spatial science, asset management or a related discipline, with relevant experience in managing public infrastructure assets; or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience in asset management.
• Demonstrated experience managing asset data, asset data structures and condition information, including visual condition auditing, on-site validation of lifecycle modelling, and application of asset knowledge to support renewal planning and asset management decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage condition audit programs for civil assets, including preparing tender documentation, supporting procurement processes, managing contractors, and ensuring audit outputs meet agreed scope, quality and reporting requirements.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience using asset information management systems, databases and spatial applications, including mobile data collection, spatial querying and asset reporting; experience with AIMS is highly desirable.
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data quality issues, interpret asset information, and recommend practical system, process or reporting improvements.
• Ability to prepare fit-for-purpose asset reporting to support the Capital Works Forward Plan, Long-Term Financial Strategy, asset valuations and organisational performance reporting.
• Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to provide clear technical advice and work effectively with service owners, asset owners, project teams, Finance, IT and GIS.
• Ability to work with autonomy, manage priorities and organise work to deliver agreed objectives within available resources and timeframes.

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

• Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
• Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check. 
• Be willing to undertake a premedical assessment check (if applicable for the role).
