Sales Assistant

We’re looking for someone to join the Pepperwhites Retail team in a permanent part-time capacity, working Sunday to Wednesday each week in our Balmain Store. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves retail, enjoys building relationships with customers and takes pride in providing excellent service.

About the role

Based at our retail store in Balnain, this is a permanent part-time position working Sunday to Wednesday each week (approx. 25–29 hours per week). We’re looking for someone who can be confident working both independently and as part of a team, and a willingness to get involved in all aspects of the store. You'll work alongside our Team Leader and other team members, while also being comfortable working independently.

Key responsibilities

• Providing warm, knowledgeable and genuine customer service

• Proactively engaging with customers and helping them find the right products

• Building strong product knowledge and confidently assisting with sales

• Processing sales and operating the POS system

• Opening and/or closing the store as required

• Replenishing stock and maintaining excellent store presentation

• Receiving and processing stock deliveries

• Assisting with merchandising and displays

• Completing general store operations and administrative tasks

• Working collaboratively with the Team Leader, permanent staff and casual team members

About you

• Has solid previous experience in a sales environment. Experience in a management role; or in the homewares and design industry would put your application at an advantage.

• Is confident engaging with customers and is confident selling the right solution

• Provides warm, friendly and attentive customer service

• Is organised, dependable and takes pride in their work

• Is comfortable working independently when required

• Enjoys being part of a collaborative, close-knit team

• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Is willing to take initiative and contribute to the smooth running of the store

• Is reliable and looking for the stability of a permanent part-time position

• Is available to work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

• Has availability to work across the 2026 Christmas season (October - January), including Christmas Eve.
