Intermediate Mechanical Engineer

About the role

As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will play a valued role within our engineering team, working closely with the Director and senior engineers on the delivery of a varied project portfolio. This position is ideally suited to an engineer with 3–5+ years of experience who is looking to build on a strong technical foundation, take on greater responsibility, and grow both technically and commercially within a stable, supportive consultancy.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical HVAC systems in accordance with relevant codes and standards

• Perform heat load calculations, equipment selection, and system scheduling

• Contribute to and coordinate multidisciplinary project delivery, working alongside architects, contractors, and other consultants

• Support client relationships and communications under the guidance of senior staff

• Conduct site inspections and surveys

• Prepare clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical documentation and specifications

• Provide guidance and support to graduate and junior engineers as your experience develops

About you

• 3–5+ years of local experience in the construction industry

• Experience in consulting mechanical building services, multidisciplinary design coordination, and working with contractors

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a high level of professional English proficiency

• Proficiency in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and/or Revit (desirable but not essential); drafting experience an advantage

• A proactive, positive, and solutions-focused mindset

• Strong technical collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within a close-knit team

• Good initiative, problem-solving ability, and time management

• A collaborative approach to design and project coordination

• A genuine desire to add value to our systems, processes, and culture

• Australian citizenship or permanent residency
