About the role
Permanent Part-Time (30 hours over 4 or 5 days)
Based Byron Bay
$100k–$110k + Super FTE (not eligible for salary packaging)
Impactful fundraising role (Fletcher Street Cottage, Byron Theatre, Byron Community Centre & more)
We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent part-time position located in the heart of Byron Bay (Jonson St), within our not-for-profit, charitable organisation.
The Byron Community Centre is an independent charity that relies on donations, grants and revenue from our commercial businesses to deliver community events, services and programs. These include Fletcher Street Cottage, Byron Theatre, Byron Markets and the Byron Seniors Club.
About the Role
The Relationships Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of community impact across the region. You'll lead the development and delivery of our fundraising and partnership strategy. From major donor engagement and philanthropic development through to grassroots community campaigns, working closely with a small but mighty management team.
The focus is on building long-term relationships that create tangible change in people's lives, and sustaining the services that matter to our community. This is a busy, hands-on role in a small NFP structure, you'll need to be just as comfortable with day-to-day implementation as you are shaping strategy.
We're looking for someone who can connect people to purpose and demonstrate the impact of giving in meaningful and compelling ways. It's a rare opportunity to work across the full spectrum of fundraising, from our major donors to grassroots storytelling, while helping to shape a more compassionate future for Byron Bay.
Key Responsibilities
Further develop and execute a varied fundraising strategy, including philanthropic prospecting, corporate and community partnerships, and digital fundraising campaigns
Regularly evaluate & adapt engagement strategies to ensure fundraising targets are met
Establish, nurture and sustain strong relationships with major donors, philanthropic foundations and corporate partners
Work closely with the Communications Manager to create and manage integrated fundraising campaigns across social media, email, print and community channels
Work with department managers to launch new fundraising streams including opportunities for the Byron Theatre & Byron Community Centre itself.
Assist with community fundraising events, partner initiatives and grassroots campaigns
Monitor campaign performance and prepare reports on fundraising outcomes
Act as the organisation's representative, advocating for its mission and fostering growth and collaboration opportunities
*Note: grant management, application and acquittal is led by another team member; this role is focused on relationship fundraising and partnerships.
Selection Criteria
Exceptional relationship-building skills with a focus on donor and stakeholder engagement
Experience in fundraising, partnerships, donor engagement or a similar not-for-profit role
Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to connect people to purpose and demonstrate impact
Experience in social media management, newsletters and digital communications
Familiarity with donor databases, CRMs and/or platforms such as Webflow, Keela or Raisely
A collaborative spirit and genuine passion for community impact and social change
Confidence delivering across the full spectrum from strategy to implementation, without a team
It’s an exciting time to join the Byron Community Centre as we build on our legacy and look to the future. We're ready to welcome a dynamic relationship expert who shares our passion for inclusion, equity and community-led change.
Byron Community Centre is an equal-opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability or veteran status.
