The Role

SMEC is seeking an Engineer – Roads & Highways to join our Townsville team. In this role, you'll contribute to the planning, design and delivery of a range of transport infrastructure projects across QLD and Australia.

Working alongside experienced technical specialists and project leaders, you'll apply your engineering expertise to deliver high-quality design solutions while continuing to develop your project management and client engagement capabilities. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with up to three years of experience looking to build their technical expertise and advance their career within a leading multidisciplinary consultancy.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

Deliver high-quality roads and highways design outcomes in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, client requirements and SMEC quality systemsUndertake analysis, design and documentation activities across multiple projectsPrepare technical reports, calculations, specifications and project documentationSupport the successful delivery of projects through effective planning, coordination and project management practicesMonitor project scope, programme, risks and budgets while maintaining high levels of technical qualityBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholdersCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated infrastructure solutionsContribute to safety in design outcomes and proactively identify project risks and opportunities

About You

Suitable applicants will have:

A Bachelor's degree in Civil EngineeringUp to 3 years of experience in roads and highways engineering designAn understanding of relevant Australian Standards, Austroads guidelines and industry specificationsExperience preparing technical documentation, reports and design deliverablesStrong organisational and project management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearlyA proactive, client-focused approach and strong attention to detailThe ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively across multiple projectsExperience using relevant engineering design software and business systemsAn understanding of project delivery, WHS requirements and risk management principlesA commitment to safety in design and continuous professional development
