About The Role
Multiple opportunities are available for experienced mental health nurses to join the leadership team within the John Cade Adult Acute Unit as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (RPN3). These opportunities have arisen through internal career movement within the team, reflecting opportunities for professional growth and progression.
The ANUM is a key clinical and operational leader, providing shift-by-shift coordination of the unit while supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care.
Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and multidisciplinary team, you will provide clinical leadership, support patient flow and bed management, coordinate staffing and resources, and contribute to workforce development, quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives.

Key Accountabilities
Provide clinical leadership and coordinate the safe, effective operation of the unit. Coordinate nursing care, staffing and patient flow in line with clinical needs and operational requirements. Provide senior clinical support to staff, including complex decision-making, risk management and escalation. Promote person-centred, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care, including least-restrictive practice. Support and develop nursing staff through supervision, feedback, education and role modelling. Work collaboratively with consumers, families and multidisciplinary teams to support safe and effective care. Promote clinical governance, quality improvement and evidence-informed practice. Act for the Nurse Unit Manager when required, within delegated responsibilities.
About You
You are an experienced mental health nurse with strong clinical leadership and communication skills. You will bring:
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with a relevant Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing qualification Demonstrated mental health nursing experience and sound clinical judgement Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, relevant legislation and mental health nursing standards Strong understanding of recovery-oriented and evidence-based practice Ability to support, educate and develop nursing staff Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively Commitment to professional development and quality improvement
