Yard Hand

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Hand to join our team at our scrap metal yard.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, staying active and being part of a busy team environment. Experience in the scrap metal or recycling industry is an advantage, but not essential.

Your duties will include:

• Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the scrap metal yard

• Sorting and handling scrap metal and materials

• Upgrading scrap metal

• Loading and unloading vehicles

• Operating a forklift safely and efficiently

• Following and implementing traffic management plans

• Keeping the yard clean, organised and safe

• Assisting customers and truck drivers when required

• Following workplace health and safety procedures

• General yard duties as required

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a current forklift licence – essential

• Is reliable, punctual and hardworking

• Has a good work ethic and positive attitude

• Is physically fit and comfortable with manual work

• Can work independently as well as part of a team

• Takes safety seriously

• Has good attention to detail

• Previous yard, scrap metal, recycling, warehousing or forklift experience is highly regarded

• Full-time position 40 hours per week (38 hours standard time & 2 hours overtime guaranteed each week)

• Be a part of a rotating Saturday roster for 4 hours (2 hours' time and a half, 2 hours double time)

• Stable employment with an established scrap metal business

• Friendly and supportive team environment

• Variety of hands-on work
