The Opportunity

As Environmental Health Coordinator, you will play a key role in protecting and enhancing the health, safety and lifestyle of the Noosa community. Leading a team of Environmental Health professionals, you will oversee the delivery of public health, environmental health and regulatory compliance programs that support a healthy and sustainable region.

• $121,071 Base annual salary 
• $137,425 Total Remuneration Package which is based on a full-time employee and inclusive of 12% Employer superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading.

About You

You are an experienced Environmental Health professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for protecting community health and wellbeing. With a strong understanding of environmental health legislation, regulatory compliance and public health practices, you excel at managing complex issues and building productive stakeholder relationships. You are a confident communicator, capable of providing expert advice, leading high-performing teams and achieving positive outcomes through collaboration, sound judgement and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Environmental Health team to deliver high-quality public health, environmental health and regulatory compliance services.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on environmental health matters to government agencies, businesses and the community.
• Manage compliance, investigations and regulatory responses in accordance with relevant environmental and public health legislation.
• Drive continuous improvement, stakeholder collaboration and service excellence to achieve positive community and organisational outcomes.

Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in environmental health, public health and regulatory compliance within a complex operational environment.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor, develop and support high-performing teams.
• Well-developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and resolve complex issues.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret legislation and apply sound judgement to achieve practical outcomes.
• Experience managing competing priorities, driving continuous improvement and delivering high-quality services to the community.

Qualifications, Training and Licences 

Essential

• Degree or Post Graduate Degree in Environmental Health, or equivalent qualification recognised by Environmental Health Australia
• Current Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver Licence.

Desirable

• Postgraduate qualifications or training in leadership, risk management, environmental health or a related discipline.
• Experience working within a regional local government environment.
