YOUR ROLE

Reporting to the Team Leader, Accounting Services, the Accounting Services Analyst is responsible for preparing, analysing and maintaining reconciliations and financial reporting across the MACS Shared Services school portfolio.

 

Working within the Accounting Services team, you will support consolidated and regional portfolio reporting, investigate and resolve variances, and work closely with schools, Finance Business Partners and Shared Services colleagues to strengthen financial controls. The role will also contribute to continuous improvement and the development of consistent, efficient reconciliation and reporting practices across MACS.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Prepare and maintain accurate monthly and annual reconciliations across MACS Shared Services schools and assigned regional portfolios.
• Generate and review reconciliation reports, investigate variances and aged reconciling items, and ensure issues are resolved within reporting deadlines.
• Prepare, review and process journals, including bulk journals and high-volume centralised transactions, in accordance with MACS accounting policies.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Tax, Group Finance, Finance Business Partners and schools to support accurate reporting and strong financial controls.
• Prepare reconciliation schedules, variance commentary and supporting documentation for consolidated, regional and external audit reporting requirements.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of reporting templates, dashboards and tools to improve and standardise financial processes.
• Support broader team operations through cross-training, knowledge sharing and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.

 

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with progress towards CPA/CA desirable but not essential.
• Demonstrated experience in general ledger reconciliations, financial reporting and variance analysis, preferably within a shared services, education or not-for-profit environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, audit requirements and month-end and year-end processes.
• Strong analytical capability and attention to detail, with the ability to investigate financial data, resolve variances and provide meaningful commentary.
• Experience using large-scale ERP or finance systems, with capability in dashboard reporting and process improvement.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and service-oriented approach.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and contribute effectively within a team environment.
