McMullen Nolan Group (MNG), was formed in 1989 to provide alternative survey services in the land development industry. Since the company's inception MNG has been dedicated to providing personalised and innovative spatial solutions to both the Land Development and Engineering & Infrastructure sectors across Australia.
Today, our core business focus upon the provision of survey services to larger scale greenfields subdivision clients who have a dominant share of the Land Development market. The Geophysical Field Technician Assistant is a critical role that is responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality geophysical and sub-surface investigation services through the preparation, operation and maintenance of field equipment, assistance with data acquisition activities and the efficient execution of field-based projects.
This role requires a hands-on approach to field operations, including assisting with geophysical surveys, equipment mobilization and demobilization, field documentation, data handling, and adherence to safety and quality requirements. This role also requires flexibility to work across a variety of project environments, while learning and developing technicals skills under the guidance of experience geophysical professionals.
Working as an integral part of our MNG SubSpatial team, this role plays a vital part in strengthening our Client Value Proposition by delivering our wide range of end-to-end surveying, mapping, geospatial and sub-surface services.
As with each role at MNG, the Geophysical Field Technician Assistant is key to maintaining our fantastic workplace culture and strong MNG brand through positive interactions with colleagues, clients and stakeholders alike.
▪ Interest in geophysics, geology, environmental science or related technical disciplines.
▪ Physically capable of undertaking fieldwork activities, including carrying equipment and walking over uneven terrain.
▪ Assist with the mobilization and demobilization of geophysical survey equipment.
▪ Support geophysical field investigations across a range of environments and project types.
▪ Assist with equipment setup, operation and pack-down under supervision.
▪ Undertake manual field activities including cable deployment, electrode installation, marking survey locations, and equipment transport.
▪ Assist with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Seismic, Electromagnetic and other geophysical survey methods.
▪ Perform general field duties to facilitate efficient project delivery.
▪ Ensure equipment is maintained, cleaned, stored and transported appropriately.
▪ Assist with downloading and organizing field data.
▪ Perform basic data entry and quality checks as directed.
▪ Support preparation of field notes, site records and project documentation.
▪ Assist with reporting, mapping and administrative projects where required.
▪ Maintain accurate records of field activities and equipment usage.
▪ Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental and weather conditions.
▪ Ability to travel to field project locations as required.
▪ Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office suite.
▪ Takes responsibility for workplace health and safety for self and others.
▪ Efficiently navigate MNG’s internal corporate IT systems, including Microsoft Office Suite and MNG Intranet.
▪ Work in accordance with MNG’s Quality and Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
▪ Other duties as directed.
