Owen Mohan Funerals is seeking a Casual Funeral Director's Assistant to join our team in Shepparton.

This is a varied and rewarding role suited to someone who is organised, professional, compassionate and confident working with people. While experience within the funeral industry is preferred, it is not essential. We are also open to candidates from administration, customer service, hospitality, healthcare or other people-focused backgrounds who have the right skills and attitude.

You will work closely with our Funeral Directors to ensure every funeral is carried out with care, professionalism and attention to detail.

About the role

The role will involve supporting our Funeral Directors across all aspects of funeral operations, including:

• Assisting Funeral Directors before, during and after funeral services

• Assisting with transfers of deceased persons from hospitals, residences and other locations

• Preparing vehicles, equipment and funeral facilities

• Assisting with funeral services, including set-up, pack-down and liaising with families, clergy, celebrants and service providers

• Providing respectful and compassionate support to families and members of the public

• Assisting with mortuary and preparation duties as required

• Completing general administration and funeral-related paperwork

• Maintaining a high standard of presentation of our vehicles, facilities and equipment

• Assisting with day-to-day operations of the funeral home

• Working as part of a team to ensure every detail of a funeral is handled professionally and respectfully

About you

• Reliable, punctual and willing to be flexible when required

• Comfortable working independently when required, while also being a strong team player

• Calm and composed in sometimes sensitive or unexpected situations

• Physically capable of assisting with transfers and the practical requirements of the role

• Willing to learn and take direction

Experience

Funeral industry experience is preferred but not essential.

Previous experience in funeral directing, funeral services, administration, healthcare, customer service, hospitality or another role involving high levels of professionalism and interaction with people will be highly regarded.
