Accountant

About the Role

Nationwide Corporate Services is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Port Melbourne. This full-time position offers excellent opportunities for professional development and career progression within a growing and dynamic organisation.

Due to the operational nature of our business—including 24/7 customer accounts, car park operations, security services and other around-the-clock service requirements—the successful applicant must be flexible and willing to work a rotating roster. This may include day, afternoon and evening shifts, as well as occasional weekend or public holiday work, where reasonably required.

The successful applicant will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting operational and strategic decision-making, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain and review financial records, including journals, ledgers, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations.

• Prepare financial statements, operational reports and management reports in accordance with accounting standards and legislative requirements.

• Complete account reconciliations and undertake detailed financial analysis.

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management.

• Monitor financial performance, identify variances and provide clear insights to management.

• Support month-end and year-end financial close processes.

• Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

• Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing supporting documentation.

• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational and commercial decision-making.

• Liaise with external accountants, auditors, tax agents, clients and other relevant stakeholders.

• Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy and financial control.

• Work closely with operational teams supporting security, car park and 24/7 customer accounts.

• Assist with invoicing, payroll and financial enquiries arising outside standard business hours when reasonably required.

• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting across the business.

About You

• A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

• Strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to interpret and apply relevant accounting standards.

• Previous experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll and financial analysis.

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

• High attention to detail and excellent numerical accuracy.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.

• A flexible and reliable approach to working hours, including shift work, weekends and public holidays when required.

• Experience supporting a 24/7 operational, security, facilities management or car park business will be highly regarded.

• Full Australian working rights or eligibility for employer-sponsored employment.
