Consultant - Residential & Home Care

About the role

As an Aged Care Consultant, you will work with providers across residential aged care, home care and community services to strengthen governance, quality, operational performance and regulatory compliance.Working remotely and travelling to client sites as required, you will deliver practical, evidence-based advice across governance, clinical governance, quality improvement, provider registration and re-registration, education and training. This varied role suits a collaborative, solutions-focused professional who demonstrates sound judgement, initiative, accountability and a commitment to improving outcomes for older people.

This is a 3-month fixed term opportunity, ideal for an experienced aged care professional who is available to start immediately and ready to make an impact from day one.

Key responsibilities

In this role your key responsibilities will include:

• deliver high-quality consultancy services to aged care providers across retirement living, residential aged care, home care and community services, tailored to each client's needs and objectives.
• undertake governance, clinical governance, operational, quality and compliance reviews, providing practical, evidence-based recommendations that strengthen organisational capability and performance.
• support providers through new provider registration, provider re-registration and other regulatory assurance activities, including undertaking gap analyses, readiness reviews, evidence reviews and implementation planning.
• develop consultancy deliverables including reports, project plans, presentations, policies, procedures, resources and other documentation to a consistently high professional standard.
• facilitate workshops, meetings, education sessions and stakeholder engagement activities to build client capability and support sustainable improvement.
• build and maintain trusted relationships with clients through professional communication, sound judgement and a commitment to excellent customer service.
• work collaboratively with Consultancy Services colleagues and teams across Ageing Australia to coordinate expertise, share knowledge and deliver integrated services that meet client needs.
• manage multiple consultancy engagements concurrently, ensuring work is delivered within agreed scope, timeframes and quality standards.
• maintain accurate project documentation and records in approved organisational systems and contribute to continuous improvement of consultancy tools, resources and processes.
• identify opportunities to expand or enhance consultancy services and contribute to business development, innovation and organisational growth.
• demonstrate a positive, adaptable and solutions-focused approach, responding effectively to changing priorities while contributing to a respectful, inclusive and high-performing team culture.
• comply with all organisational policies, legislative requirements, professional standards and work health and safety obligations.
• representing Ageing Australia professionally while living our values in everything you do.

About you

To be successful in this role you will bring:

• a tertiary qualification in nursing, allied health or a related discipline.
• recent management, advisory or consultancy experience within the aged care sector.
• experience reviewing governance, quality, operational or service delivery systems and providing practical recommendations.
• excellent facilitation, coaching, training and stakeholder engagement skills.
• exceptional written communication, including report writing and presenting findings to executive leaders and boards.
• demonstrated ability to manage concurrent projects, competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• ability to work independently with limited supervision, contribute effectively within a remote team and respond to changing work requirements.
• a strong work ethic, alignment with Ageing Australia’s values and a genuine commitment to improving aged care.
• intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft 365, confidence using project and client record systems, and awareness of work health and safety requirements.
• experience across both residential aged care and home care is highly regarded, along with knowledge of disability services, retirement living and/or seniors housing.
