 Our Catering Department has a new opportunity to join our busy and growing department, dedicated to preparing and serving delicious and nutritional meals to our patients.  

Delmar Private Hospital is seeking to employ a casual Food Services Assistant. You will work in a team environment that strives to deliver outstanding healthcare to our patients.

As a valued Food Services Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Assist in preparation of food trays for patient consumption

• Quality checking food trays before delivering meals to patients, ensuring patients receive appropriate meals according to dietary requirements.

• Deliver, serve and collect all patient food requirements and meal tray in a friendly and courteous manner.

• Cleaning duties, including fridges and preparation areas, kitchen area, dish wash area 

• Clean and maintain utensils and kitchen equipment in accordance with hospital & industry food safety and hygiene standards

• General cleaning and sanitising of all areas of food preparation areas.

Selection Criteria – what works for us:

• Must have Prior experience in Healthcare Food Services as a Catering Assistant or Kitchenhand.

• Knowledge of dietary restriction and allergies 

• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements

• Effective English reading, writing, and verbal skills

• Be reliable and punctual

• The ability to support the Head Cook and the team in a busy kitchen.

• Strong hygiene practices and attention to detail

• Ability to work autonomously, without supervision, as well as a part of a team

• Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service

• Motivated by personal growth and accountability

• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts – split shifts, morning/afternoon shifts & weekend work. You must be available for weekday shifts.

The successful applicant will require a minimum of Food Handling Certificate, Police Check as well as a valid Working with Children Check.
