Gympie Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for an existing GRC employee. We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Road Sweeper Operator to join our Infrastructure Services team. This is a hands-on role responsible for operating a road sweeper and supporting a variety of civil construction and maintenance activities across Council's road network and infrastructure assets.
While the primary focus of this position is Road Sweeper Operations, you will also work as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team and may be required to assist other crews depending on operational requirements.
About The Role
As part of our Maintenance Team, you will:
Operate and maintain a road sweeper and other medium-complexity plant and equipment safely and efficiently.Undertake labouring duties associated with the construction and maintenance of roads, drainage, stormwater, and other civil infrastructure.Assist in delivering Council's maintenance and construction programs to a high standard.Work collaboratively with team members while also being able to operate independently when required.Champion the use of technology to support a mobile workforce and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.Promote a strong safety culture by following safe work practices, identifying hazards, and participating in workplace health and safety initiatives.Respond professionally to operational requests while maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and the community.Undertake other duties within the scope of the position as required.
About You
Essential
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Current Queensland MR Class Driver Licence (or higher).Current Construction Industry White Card.Demonstrated experience operating medium rigid vehicles, tractors and slashers across varied terrain.Strong physical fitness with the ability to undertake manual labour, including frequent lifting, bending and outdoor work.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to providing quality service.A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Desirable
Experience in civil construction and maintenance, including roads, earthworks, pavements, drainage, stormwater and concreting.Certificate III in Civil Construction, Plant Operations or similar qualification.Queensland HR Class Driver Licence.Traffic Management Level 2 (RIIWHS302D Implement Traffic Plans).Front End Loader competency (RIIMPO321F).Chainsaw and Pole Saw accreditation.
