About the Role:

The NDIS Nurse Educator plays a key role in combining clinical expertise, education, and compliance responsibilities to support the delivery of high-quality, person-centred disability health services. This position is responsible for developing workforce capability through education, training, and clinical guidance while ensuring organisational practices align with regulatory requirements and quality standards.

Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the role contributes to improved participant outcomes, promotes best-practice clinical care, supports compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards, and fosters a culture of continuous learning, safety, quality improvement, and accountability.

This position is primarily based at the Support Office, with a requirement to work across Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes located between Marrickville and Shellharbour. Working closely with the Operations Management Team, the role provides ongoing clinical support, education, mentoring, and staff training to promote best practice, quality care, and positive participant outcomes.

Your Key Responsibilities Include:

Clinical Care & Nursing Responsibilities

• Support implementation of clinical support plans

• Provide clinical leadership and expert nursing guidance to support the delivery of safe, person-centred care for NDIS participants.

• Assess and support staff competency in areas including medication management, dysphagia, enteral feeding, epilepsy management, diabetes care, wound care, infection prevention and control, and other complex health supports.

• Ensure compliance with NDIS Practice Standards and regulatory requirements, aimed towards high intensity support

• Provide clinical oversight and training to active support works

• Support the implementation of evidence-based practice, clinical policies, procedures, and guidelines across all service settings.

• Collaborate with participants, families, guardians, allied health professionals, medical practitioners, and external stakeholders.

• Support the management and reporting of clinical incidents, ensuring appropriate follow-up actions and lessons learned are incorporated into training and practice improvements.

• Monitor client health outcomes through regular onsite  visits (SIL homes)

• Develop and maintain a schedule for all medication audits, completing two audit rounds each year across Forsight SIL homes (up to 32 audits), including desktop reviews and pre-assessment work.

• Implement the medication audit process, ensuring assessment tools remain current and comply with relevant healthcare regulations.

• Keep medication lists for all clients, including current Schedule 8, Schedule 4D, and psychotropic medicines.

• Provide support for high-intensity clinical needs, including participation in multidisciplinary meetings with health professionals.

• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and person-centred practice throughout the organisation.

• Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.  

• Maintain confidentiality in line with the NDIS Code of Conduct   

• Collaborate with home operations team to improve medication management practices. 

• Support Quality Assurance and Risk Manager with external audits, registration, and reaccreditation processes

• Maintain current professional nursing registration, clinical knowledge, and continuing professional development in accordance with AHPRA requirements.

Training and Capability Building

• Design and deliver staff training in clinical and compliance areas.

• Design and deliver medication training, including general administration, Schedule 8, Schedule 4D, and psychotropic medicines.

• Provide clinical training to SIL homes as needed.

• Build staff capability in incident reporting, documentation, and regulatory compliance.

• Create training materials and educational resources.

• Attend SIL home team meetings to discuss audit findings and provide guidance and training as needed.

• Deliver operational training on incident reporting, documentation best practice, and other key compliance areas.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Work with internal teams, regulators, and external stakeholders.

• Help operational teams meet compliance requirements and deliver strong clinical and compliance outcomes.
  

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

Essential

• Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse

• Experience in disability, health, or social services sector

• NDIS worker screening check

• Valid drivers license

• Strong knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards and compliance frameworks

• Experience in audits and accreditation processes

• Strong communication, training, and stakeholder engagement skills

• High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities

Desirable

• Experience in frontline disability support

• Project management and continuous improvement experience

• Familiarity with quality management systems

• Experience in clinical policy development

Working Conditions
