State Manager – Retail

Are you an experienced multi-site retail leader who knows how to drive performance, develop great managers and create consistently high-performing stores?

Roof Racks Galore is looking for a State Manager to take ownership of retail performance across our store network within the state.

Reporting to the General Manager – Retail, this is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving sales, operational excellence, customer experience and team performance across multiple locations.

You'll work closely with Area Leaders, Store Managers and our broader Support Office teams to ensure our stores are performing at their best.

What you'll be doing

As State Manager, you'll take ownership of the performance and operations of stores across your state, including:

• Leading, coaching and developing Area Leaders and Store Managers

• Driving sales performance and achievement of state revenue targets

• Regularly visiting stores to review performance, standards and opportunities

• Maintaining consistently high standards across customer service, merchandising, presentation and operations

• Identifying opportunities to grow sales, improve store performance and expand into new markets

• Developing and strengthening commercial customer relationships

• Monitoring staffing levels, rosters, labour costs, leave and overtime

• Overseeing inventory performance, stock accuracy, transfers and stock availability

• Working closely with our Product and Distribution teams to improve stock flow and logistics

• Ensuring stores maintain strong financial controls, including cash handling and banking procedures

• Acting as an escalation point for complex customer matters

• Driving the effective use of Retail Express (REX), CRM and other internal systems

• Coordinating and supporting product, sales and leadership training

• Implementing national initiatives consistently across your state

• Ensuring stores operate in accordance with company policies, WHS requirements and relevant legislation

• Identifying opportunities for new stores and supporting future network growth

About you

We're looking for an experienced retail leader who is comfortable balancing people, performance and operations.

You'll ideally bring:

• Proven experience in multi-site retail management, Area Management, State Management or a similar leadership role

• Strong commercial acumen and a demonstrated ability to drive sales and operational performance

• Experience leading and developing Store Managers and multi-location teams

• Strong communication, coaching and relationship-building skills

• Confidence analysing store performance and turning opportunities into action

• Strong problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making skills

• Experience with inventory management, retail operations and customer service

• Confidence using retail and CRM systems – experience with Retail Express (REX) would be highly regarded

• Strong Microsoft Office skills

• The ability and willingness to travel regularly between stores within your state

• Flexibility to support stores when operational needs require it

Experience within automotive accessories, 4WD, outdoor, trade or specialty retail would be highly regarded, but strong multi-site retail leadership experience is what matters most.

The role

You'll spend your time across our store network, working directly with our leaders and teams, with a focus on being visible in stores and understanding what's happening on the ground.

You'll also work closely with Retail, Operations, Distribution, Product and People & Culture to deliver broader business initiatives.
