Truck Driver / Multi-Skilled Plant Operator

About the role

An experienced Truck Driver / Multi-Skilled Plant Operator position based in Cairns and the Tablelands. This is a local position, not FIFO. Work will be undertaken across the Cairns, Tablelands and surrounding FNQ areas, with occasional travel to project locations as required. The successful applicant will primarily be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy vehicles and civil construction plant. We are looking for someone who is reliable, safety-focused and willing to be hands-on and assist the wider team when required.

Key responsibilities

• Operating truck and heavy vehicles for the transport of materials, plant and equipment

• Operating a range of civil construction machinery, including excavators, loaders, graders, rollers, skid steers and other plant

• Loading, unloading and securing plant, materials and equipment

• Completing daily pre-starts, vehicle and plant inspections

• Carrying out general civil construction and labouring duties when required

• Assisting with site preparation, earthworks, roadworks and other civil construction activities

• Working safely around other workers, plant, vehicles and the public

• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work environment

• Following project specifications, site procedures and safety requirements

• Working effectively as part of a team and independently when required

About you

• Construction White Card

• Current Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) licence

• Experience operating heavy vehicles in a civil construction environment

• Experience operating civil construction plant is highly desirable

• Relevant plant tickets/accreditation, including excavator, loader, dozer, grader, roller or skid steer, will be highly regarded

• Previous civil construction experience

• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Reliable, punctual and willing to work across Cairns, the Tablelands and surrounding FNQ areas

• A strong work ethic and positive attitude
