The bakery emphasizes fresh ingredients, consistency, and creative presentation to deliver memorable experiences for guests.Role Description The Pastry Cook is a part-time, on-site role based at Tarte Bakery & Cafe in Burleigh Heads, QLD. This role is responsible for preparing, baking, and finishing a variety of pastries, cakes, croissants, and other baked items according to established recipes and standards. Daily tasks include measuring and mixing ingredients, operating baking equipment, decorating and plating pastries, and ensuring all products meet quality and presentation guidelines. The Pastry Cook maintains a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment, follows hygiene and safety procedures, and helps with inventory checks and ingredient storage. The role also involves collaborating with the kitchen team on new menu items, supporting peak service times, and ensuring consistent product availability throughout the day.Qualifications Strong foundational skills in Bakery and Baking, with experience producing a range of pastries and baked goods.Cooking knowledge applicable to pastry preparation, including understanding of temperatures, textures, and flavor balance.Commitment to strict Hygiene standards, food safety practices, and clean workstation maintenance.Creativity Skills to design, decorate, and present pastries in visually appealing and innovative ways.Previous experience in a commercial bakery, patisserie, or cafe environment is highly beneficial.Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and peak periods as required in a busy bakery setting.Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to follow recipes and production schedules accurately.Good communication and teamwork skills, with a positive attitude and reliability in a fast-paced kitchen.Relevant lamination experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
