About the role

The Mental Health Clinician plays a key role across our headspace Digital Mental Health programs, supporting young people and their families to improve their mental health and wellbeing. This is an important, varied role designed to increase access to high‑quality support - and you'll be part of a passionate, collaborative team committed to making a real difference!

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work in a fast-paced productive environment, working alongside young people and their families from all across Australia, delivering phone and online care that is accessible, inclusive, developmentally appropriate and evidence based. You will be committed to delivering safe and quality services and be open to continuous learning and professional development. In this role, you will support young people and their families with mild - to evolving mental health presentations and work as part of a multidisciplinary team including working alongside Peer Workers.

The role provides a fantastic opportunity for Clinicians to work across multiple programs over time, providing a range of single sessions and continuing care services via a variety of online and phone modalities.

Programs:

• headspace Connect operates Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm. Shifts include both 9 am to 5 pm and 11:30 am to 7:30 pm.
• Regional Phones Counselling Service operates Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
• eheadspace operates every day of the week, all days of the year between 3pm to 10pm in each state and territory with shifts between 2.30pm - 10.30pm or 4pm - 12pm (April to October) and 5pm - 1am (October - April)
• The successful candidate will be available to work a variety of these outlined shifts, as well as flexibility to change shifts as demand requires.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for clinicians who are passionate about working with young people and have:

• Approved tertiary qualifications in an allied health discipline, including social work, psychology, mental health nursing, and occupational therapy; or a Masters in Counselling (minimum Level 3, ACA).
• Eligibility for membership of an appropriate professional body: Social workers are required by the Australian Government Department of Health to be eligible for full membership with AASW. Psychologists, mental health nurses, and occupational therapists are required to have full registration with AHPRA. Those with a master's in counselling need to have eligibility for full professional registration at a minimum of Level 3 within the Australian Counselling Association scope of practice guidelines.
• Demonstrated strong clinical skills in the area of working with young people and an ability to operate independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Robust knowledge of the common mental health issues faced by young people, therapeutic interventions for high prevalence disorders (such as CBT for mood and anxiety disorders) and the literature underpinning such approaches
• Significant experience in provision of medium to long term counselling with young people
• Strong communication and clinical skills, with the ability to build effective therapeutic relationships and work with confidence and compassion.
