About the role
Luma is seeking a compassionate and skilled Family & Domestic Violence (FDV) Advocate to support victim-survivors through client-centred case management, advocacy, and safety planning. This role is ideal for someone passionate about empowering clients and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. This role is fixed-term for 2 years with the possibility of permanent extension.
Key responsibilities
Collaborate with the Triage & Assessment Officers to provide brief interventions and support to FDV victim-survivors. Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and develop tailored case plans. Deliver case management services and coordinate referrals to external agencies.
Identify FDV risk factors and co-develop and update safety plans with clients.
Accurately record client data and document service occasions and outcomes for reporting purposes.
Provide information on Luma's services and facilitate access to development programs. Support clients in building safety knowledge and future planning skills.
Contribute to updating team resources and community education through participating in supervision, team meetings, and partnership development.
About you
Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant discipline, such as Mental Health, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent.
Proficiency in providing brief interventions, advocacy and support to individual clients affected by Family and Domestic Violence, including women, children, and their families.
Understanding of working within a social model of health with clients experiencing co-occurring mental health, alcohol and other drugs, and developmental trauma presentations.
Ability to work autonomously, using professional judgement and decision making when assessing client needs.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to culturally responsive practice, particularly in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and other marginalised communities.
Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and actively support personal wellbeing in a high-demand environment.

Benefits
Competitive salary with tax-free salary packaging where you can package up to $15,900 + $2,600 for entertainment expenses per annum and not pay tax on that amount.
4 weeks annual leave + leave loading + up to an additional 2 weeks paid leave each year over the end of year shutdown period.
