Diesel Mechanic

About the role

Buslines Group is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team in Orange, NSW. This is a full-time position based on-site, offering an excellent opportunity to work with a reputable transport and logistics company. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of diesel-powered vehicles, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. Your technical expertise will be essential in keeping our operations running smoothly and maintaining the high standards our customers expect.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine maintenance and servicing on diesel engines and related mechanical systems

• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and failures in diesel-powered vehicles using diagnostic equipment and tools

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant with safety regulations

• Replace and repair components including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems and cooling systems

• Conduct inspections and testing of vehicles to identify potential issues before they become major problems

• Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all work completed

• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations

• Collaborate with other team members to support fleet operations and minimise vehicle downtime

• Identify and recommend improvements to maintenance procedures and vehicle performance

What we're looking for

• Trade qualification in diesel mechanics (MVTC) or equivalent hands-on experience

• Proven experience working with diesel engines and heavy vehicles (minimum 3 years desirable)

• Strong knowledge of diesel engine mechanics, fuel systems, electrical systems and hydraulic systems

• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and computerised vehicle testing tools

• Sound understanding of vehicle maintenance schedules and manufacturer specifications

• Current driver's license (MR or above)

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities

• Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious approach to work
