About the role
Buslines Group is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team in Orange, NSW. This is a full-time position based on-site, offering an excellent opportunity to work with a reputable transport and logistics company. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of diesel-powered vehicles, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. Your technical expertise will be essential in keeping our operations running smoothly and maintaining the high standards our customers expect.
Key responsibilities
Conduct routine maintenance and servicing on diesel engines and related mechanical systems
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and failures in diesel-powered vehicles using diagnostic equipment and tools
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant with safety regulations
Replace and repair components including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems and cooling systems
Conduct inspections and testing of vehicles to identify potential issues before they become major problems
Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all work completed
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations
Collaborate with other team members to support fleet operations and minimise vehicle downtime
Identify and recommend improvements to maintenance procedures and vehicle performance
What we're looking for
Trade qualification in diesel mechanics (MVTC) or equivalent hands-on experience
Proven experience working with diesel engines and heavy vehicles (minimum 3 years desirable)
Strong knowledge of diesel engine mechanics, fuel systems, electrical systems and hydraulic systems
Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and computerised vehicle testing tools
Sound understanding of vehicle maintenance schedules and manufacturer specifications
Current driver's license (MR or above)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious approach to work
