About the role

Hedge Espresso is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Cafe Cook to join our team in Salisbury, QLD. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our customers. As a Cafe Cook, you will be at the heart of our kitchen operations, preparing high-quality meals and beverages that reflect our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. Your work will directly contribute to the overall success of our cafe and the memorable experiences our guests take away from us.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of menu items including breakfast, lunch, and cafe specialities to consistent quality standards

• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, fryers and ovens.

• Maintain meticulous food hygiene and safety standards in compliance with food handling regulations

• Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team to ensure timely service delivery and customer satisfaction

• Manage food stock levels and assist with inventory control and ordering

• Prepare and present dishes that meet the visual and taste standards established by Hedge Espresso

• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen workspace throughout service

• Respond promptly to service demands and adapt to busy periods with professionalism

• Support team members and contribute to a positive kitchen culture

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working in a cafe, restaurant, or commercial kitchen environment

• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices and compliance with food handling regulations

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain quality during peak service times

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team

• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items safely

• Attention to detail and commitment to consistent presentation and quality

• Flexibility with working hours, including early starts, weekends and public holidays as required

• Relevant qualifications such as a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or equivalent (desirable)
