About Us
Noosa Pengari Steiner School first opened its doors in 1996 and has now established itself as a strong independent school offering a Steiner/Waldorf Education for students from Kindergarten to Class 12. We currently cater for 350 students from 200 families and continue to grow.
The school philosophy, pedagogy and curriculum are aligned with the work of Rudolf Steiner, which extends into how we work with students with varied educational needs.
Learning and Enrichment Overview
Working alongside the High School Coordinator and High School teachers, through the philosophy and principles of Steiner Education, the Teacher – Learning Support and Enrichment Coordinator High School will implement and lead the collective class programs and curriculum, to support children to participate as fully as possible in the program and to develop in all areas.
Learning Enrichment offers either 1:1 and small academic group work to enrich the children’s gifts and challenges. Some challenges may be temporary, needing brief periods of support and adjustment, whilst other challenges may be more long term or ongoing. Our aim is to have a balanced approach. All support and therapeutic work are underpinned by the philosophy of the whole child and the pedagogy of Rudolf Steiner.
The Teacher - Learning Support and Enrichment Coordinator High School leads learning support systems within High School so adjustments are timely, evidence - based and integrated into classroom practice.
This leadership role plays a key role in ensuring that all students have equitable access to learning and that teaching practices reflect an inclusive, responsive, and student-centred approach. This active leader will be working closely with leadership, teachers, wellbeing, guardians, families, and external professionals, the Teacher - Learning Support and Enrichment Coordinator High School oversees the provision of learning support across the high school and contributes to whole-school strategies that promote student wellbeing and academic success.
Key Purpose
To initiate, coordinate, lead, and continuously improve learning support systems across the high school.
To coordinate data and reporting to ensure that students with diverse learning needs receive appropriate, timely, and effective support.
To lead and guide high school teachers in implementing differentiated, inclusive, and evidence-informed practices.
To establish and maintain clear processes for identification, intervention, communication, and monitoring of student needs with evidence – base data.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Support & Case Management
In classroom Teaching practice to monitor and evaluate high school wide identified students in learning support and Enrichment Program.
Establish consistent evidence – based methods to Identify students requiring additional academic, behavioural, or social-emotional support through data, referrals, and observation.
Coordinate and manage individual education plans (IEPs), adjustments (SAPs), and by leading and scheduling support programs in collaboration with teachers and families.
Consolidate data and complete observations and monitor student progress and adapt support strategies as needed to adjust plans. Ensure implementation to adjusted student plans.
Lead and maintain testing cycles appropriate to each stage: track and share progress reporting to High School Coordinator. Explore external specialists, or diagnostic tools where appropriate.
Maintain confidential records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and school policies.
2. Teacher Support & Inclusive Practice
Responsible for Learning and Enrichment initiatives and coordination of the program.
Lead with collaborative practices and provide guidance to Teachers, Teacher Assistance, Support staff, therapist, and external specialists on practical strategies for differentiating curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Consult and collaborate with High School Coordinator to support Teachers to plan and deliver classroom adjustments in the Support Plan/IEP and promote best-practice inclusive education.
Lead and model supportive and effective interventions and behaviour-support strategies.
Develop and implement engagement programmes for disengaged identified students with active reconnection strategies.
Promote and lead with options available to offer professional learning for staff related to learning diversity, disability standards and evidence-based approaches.
Be available and active in the provision of training, guidance and mentoring with clear communication to ensure high-quality support across classroom settings.
4. Communication & Collaboration
Collaborate closely with school leadership, Wellbeing Officer and external professionals including psychologist, therapists, specialist practitioners to support student learning and wellbeing.
Plan and coordinate meetings to ensure effective planning, communication, goal setting and ongoing review of students’ progress.
Foster strong partnerships with families by ensuring they are informed, supported, and actively involved in decision-making related to their child's learning journey.
Liaise and partner with Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) and other relevant agencies as required to access advice, resources, and support services.
5. Compliance, Planning & Administration
Lead the centralisation of the compliance, planning and administration of Learning Support and Enrichment within High School.
Manage compliance with the Disability Standards for Education, NCCD requirements, and other relevant legislation.
Actively manage documentation and timelines for NCCD data collection and reporting.
Maintain NCCD evidence and cycles; ensure adjustments are implemented and reviewed with teachers.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to school-wide planning and policy development for inclusive education.
Provide data reporting and preliminary information to the High School Coordinator to review allocation and monitoring of resources, including funding, support time, and specialised tools.
Complete ‘Special Assessment Conditions Application’ in conjunction with CSE coordinator.
Support Class 7 to Class 8 transition with identifying future in depth learning enrichment planning to support needs for students moving into Class 8.
Key Selection Criteria
Education Experience:
Current Queensland Teacher Registration.
Learning Support qualifications, experience highly desirable.
Experience and strong knowledge of diverse learning needs, disability legislation, and inclusive education frameworks and workable knowledge in School Learning Enrichment Programs.
Demonstrated experience in education, preferably within Steiner Education with a deep understanding of the High School.
Working knowledge and experience with disability standards for education, NCCD requirements and other relevant legislation.
Strong knowledge of the developmental needs of students in Classes 7-12 with a holistic, child centred approach.
In depth understanding of curriculum development and differentiation and strategies for supporting diverse learners.
Learning Support and Collaboration
Demonstrated experience in working with Teachers and a learning support team, therapists and specialist to meet the needs of students with diverse learning profiles.
