Activation Officer

About the role

The Activation Officer works within the Communities & Libraries business unit and Place Activation team on a permanent full-time basis and will focus on the consistent provision of a variety of community activations that increase vibrancy and foot traffic in City town centres to build resilient communities, foster a strong sense of place, increase visitation, and enhance perceptions of the City more broadly). The role is responsible for maintaining collaborative relationships with community, industry and organisational stakeholders to support participation, partnerships and positive community outcomes Additionally the role promotes inclusive participation and access to relevant City resources.  

‘Activation’ examples include, small community events, local markets, pop up movie events and film show, music programs and artistic performances, buskers, pop up food vendors, art and cultural displays and walking tours.                                                            

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to;

• Contribute to the coordination of place activation, community participation and other engagement initiatives across City venues, town centres, activation sites and library spaces.
• Support the implementation of activation strategies, programs, events and projects across Community and Libraries and other City teams through effective planning, stakeholder engagement and operational delivery.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with community, industry and organisational stakeholders to support participation, partnerships and positive community outcomes.
• Promote community access to Activation Grants and associated in-kind resources such as the Event Kit, Marquee Trailer and Pop-up Movie Trailer
• Co-ordinate the administrative, operational and resource requirements associated with specific public event activation activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislative, policy and risk management frameworks.
• Promote inclusive participation and contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement of activation programs and services.

About you

The successful candidate will have the following:

• A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in relevant disciplines (desirable)
• Art and Culture and Place Activation knowledge will be highly regarded.  
• Advanced customer service skills.
• Experience within a similar position will be highly regarded.
• Current ‘C’ class drivers’ licence.
• A satisfactory National Police Certificate
• A willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check

The salary for this position will be from $74,894.84 to 90,082.35 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
