DFSV Counsellor/ Redress Case Worker

Based in Alice Springs.

Full time – ongoing.

About the Role

This is a unique hybrid position working across two roles:

• The first of which involves supporting incarcerated women who have experienced domestic, family and sexual violence.

• The second role involves supporting survivors of institutional childhood sexual abuse. 

Working across our Domestic and Family Violence and National Redress Scheme Support Service programs, you’ll provide trauma-informed counselling, case management and advocacy that empowers people to improve their safety, wellbeing and recovery. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference while working within a supportive multidisciplinary team in Alice Springs.

What will you be doing

Every day you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact by:

• Providing trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic support to individuals with complex experiences of trauma.
• Supporting clients through assessment, safety planning, advocacy and case management to help them achieve their goals.
• Walking alongside survivors of domestic and family violence and institutional childhood sexual abuse throughout their recovery journey.
• Connecting clients with housing, legal, health and community services to ensure they receive holistic support.
• Delivering therapeutic groups, community outreach and education that strengthens awareness and access to support.
• Building strong relationships with Aboriginal organisations, community services and key stakeholders across Central Australia.
• Working collaboratively within a supportive multidisciplinary team while maintaining high-quality clinical practice and documentation.

You’re someone who genuinely cares about improving the lives of others and brings both professionalism and empathy to your work.

You’ll also have:

• A qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or a related discipline.
• Eligibility for membership with AASW, ACA, PACFA or another relevant professional association.
• Experience providing counselling and case management to people experiencing trauma and complex life circumstances.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, risk assessment, safety planning and recovery-focused approaches.
• Confidence working collaboratively with diverse communities, including Aboriginal people, families and organisations.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills, sound professional judgement and the ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.
• A current Driver Licence, Working with Children Clearance and National Criminal History Check.
