Part-Time Bookkeeper

About the role

Acan Group Pty Ltd is seeking a Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our team in West Melbourne, VIC. This is a part-time position that offers flexibility whilst contributing meaningfully to our accounting operations. As a Part-Time Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of our bookkeeping function. This position is ideal for someone seeking a flexible working arrangement without compromising on professional responsibility and impact.

What you'll be doing

• Recording financial transactions accurately in accounting software and maintaining general ledgers

• Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoice verification and payment processing

• Reconciling bank statements and identifying discrepancies on a regular basis

• Preparing and maintaining financial documentation and supporting records for audit purposes

• Assisting with the preparation of trial balances and financial reports

• Managing payroll administration tasks, including timesheet processing and wage calculations

• Liaising with clients to clarify transaction details and resolve accounting queries

• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal control procedures

• Supporting month-end and year-end closing procedures as required

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting support role, preferably in a small to medium-sized practice environment

• Proficiency with accounting software such as MYOB, Xero or similar platforms

• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, double-entry accounting and the accounting cycle

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently

• Solid understanding of GST, PAYG and other Australian tax obligations

• Professional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients

• Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work effectively in a part-time capacity

• A working knowledge of Excel for data management and financial analysis

• Certificate III or IV in Bookkeeping or equivalent qualifications is preferred
