Established commercial building & construction company, working on projects across Newcastle, Sydney, and QLD worth up to $30m.
Our client is a commercial building & construction company, known for their high-quality practices. They are now seeking an experienced Contract Administrator to join their team.
You will be responsible for the commercial management and administration of construction projects throughout the full project lifecycle. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will oversee all contractual and financial aspects of each project, ensuring profitability is maintained while financial and contractual risks are minimised.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working on commercial construction projects of a new build nature. Clients span both the private and government sectors. You will be managing the commercial delivery across multiple concurrent projects, with the largest projects valued up to $30m.
The role will be head office based, five days a week, with regular engagement with clients, subcontractors, and consultants, and site visits as required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage all facets of the subcontract process including negotiation, letting, and ongoing administrationPrepare, review, and issue subcontract packages, scopes of works, and procurement schedulesNegotiate and assess subcontract tenders including preparation of tender comparisons for reviewProcess progress claims, delay claims, and variations in accordance with contractual obligationsPreparation of accurate payment schedules, monthly cost reports, and cash flow forecastsPrepare and maintain project budgets and rolling final account forecastsManage and mitigate contractual and financial risk across the project lifecycleLiaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors on all commercial mattersAssist in the preparation of project completion documentation including practical completion and defect managementEnsure safety adherence to meet corporate and legislative compliance
Qualifications and Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or similar would be idealMinimum 3–8 years’ experience as a Contract Administrator within the commercial construction industryDemonstrated experience on commercial new build projects valued between $5m–$30mConstruction Safety Induction (White Card)Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project budgets and financial reportingGood negotiation and stakeholder management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with Procore or similar project management software is preferred
