Position Summary:

Community Service Manager is primarily responsible for managing the day-to-day Council service delivery operations in the community under direction of the Director of Service Delivery and to contribute to implementing the strategic direction of the West Daly Regional Council. 

The key duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Direct, oversee and monitor Council core services, programs and minor projects within the community.
• Manage Council assets, including plant, equipment, buildings, vehicles, transport routes and airstrips.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with the Local Authority, community members, government agencies and other stakeholders.
• Lead, supervise and develop staff in a cross-cultural environment, with a focus on building the capacity of local Aboriginal employees, conducting performance appraisals and ensuring mandatory compliance requirements are maintained.
• Maintain a safe workplace by ensuring compliance with Work Health & Safety legislation, Council policies and procedures, and emergency management responsibilities.
• Oversee the delivery of Community Safety Patrol services by:developing strong community and stakeholder relationships;ensuring services meet community needs through appropriate, non-coercive intervention strategies;monitoring service performance, staffing levels and program delivery across all communities;mentoring and supporting Community Safety Patrol Coordinators.
• Manage the Community Safety Patrol budget, operational performance and reporting requirements, including compliance with funding agreements and key performance indicators.
• Work collaboratively with the Grants Manager to ensure accurate and timely submission of financial, performance and program reporting, including community documentation.
• Liaise with NT Police, the Director of Service Delivery and Community Managers on matters relating to community safety and criminal activity.
• Undertake other duties as directed by the Director of Service Delivery.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

• Demonstrated experience managing service delivery programs and leading operational activities.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop diverse teams in a cross-cultural environment.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of Community Safety Patrol services or a similar community-based service environment.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to:consult and negotiate effectively with Aboriginal people;prepare clear, accurate reports in a timely manner;build productive stakeholder relationships and resolve conflict.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of business, financial management and reporting principles.
• Sound knowledge of Work Health & Safety legislation and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
• A current NT Driver Licence.
• A current National Criminal History Check.
• A current Working with Children (OCHRE) Card.
• Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent experience.
