Medical Secretary - Specialist Practice

A  respected solo practitioner Cardiologist located based at Greenslopes Private Hospital is seeking the expertise of an experienced Medical Secretary to join the small team. The successful candidate will be required to work 4 days per week.    

This is a permanent part time position working 32 hours per week. The rooms are open Monday through Thursday. There would be some flexibility to work from home on days other than Wednesday. 

As this is a critical support position within the practice and you will be required to work with little supervision at times, it is imperative that you are an experienced candidate with relevant private practice specialist knowledge. Previous cardiac experience is strongly preferred.

Key duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

Meet and greet of patients visiting the practice

Taking all incoming patient enquiries in a timely and professional manner

Preparing and running patient clinics

Processing patient billing and receipting (for both consultations and inpatient stays)

Scheduling and confirmation of patient appointments

Liaising with private hospitals, patients, families and a variety of other medical professionals 

A small amount of medical typing (the practice is currently supported by dragon dictation)

Use of Gentu software, Eclipse and MS Office (Word and Outlook)

To be considered for this role, you will have:

At least 3-5 years experience in a similar position working within a private practice specialists rooms

Experience using Gentu or other medical software 

Enthusiastic and positive attitude, a high level of initiative and resilience 

Exceptional ability to prioritise and multi-task

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Solid time management and organisational skills

Reliable, punctual and flexible with hours to suit the team

Ability to work with little supervision, in collaboration with other team members

Compassionate and caring attitude to be an integral part of the medical care journey for patients and their relatives
