About the role
This is a hands-on, revenue-focused position responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, nurturing key client relationships, and driving conference and event sales. You will be highly visible in the Canberra market, actively engaging with government agencies, corporate organisations, sporting groups, associations, tourism partners, educational institutions and local businesses to generate new business and increase market share. Working closely with hotel operations teams and the Conference & Events Coordinator, you will develop and implement sales and marketing strategies that deliver measurable business results.
Key responsibilities
Develop and execute proactive sales plans to grow accommodation, conference and food & beverage revenue.
Identify, target and secure new corporate, government, education, association and sporting business.
Build and manage a strong portfolio of key accounts through regular client meetings and relationship management.
Conduct sales calls, networking meetings, presentations and hotel site inspections.
Prepare compelling proposals, quotations and agreements that maximise business opportunities.
Maintain an active sales pipeline and ensure accurate CRM management.
Represent the hotel at industry events, networking functions and tourism activities.
Drive conference, meeting and event enquiries and increase conversion rates.
Prepare detailed proposals and negotiate event agreements.
Develop and implement annual marketing and promotional plans.
About you
Minimum 3 years' experience in hotel sales, conference and events sales, business development or hospitality sales leadership.
Demonstrated success in generating new business, managing accounts and achieving strong conversion results.
Proven ability to build long-term client relationships and grow revenue.
Strong negotiation, networking and presentation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently.
Experience within Canberra's government, corporate or events market will be highly regarded.
Experience using CRM platforms, hotel systems and Microsoft Office applications.
