The opportunity

As our Senior Payroll Officer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services for Radiology SA employees. Supporting the end-to-end payroll function, you will ensure all payroll activities are processed efficiently and in accordance with relevant legislation, modern awards, enterprise agreements, and organisational policies. 

In this role, you will provide experienced support across a broad range of payroll responsibilities, including the management of complex payroll matters, compliance activities, reporting requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Payroll & Compliance Manager, you will contribute to maintaining best-practice payroll processes and supporting organisational compliance obligations. 

You will work closely with People & Culture, Finance, and internal stakeholders to ensure payroll services are delivered with a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism, while contributing to a positive employee experience across the organisation. 

This is a permanent full-time opportunity; however, part-time arrangements of 0.8 FTE will be considered for the right candidate. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Manage the end-to-end processing of fortnightly and monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant legislation, awards, and policies. 
• Maintain employee payroll records and process payroll changes, including new starters, employment variations, terminations, leave entitlements, and complex payroll calculations. 
• Prepare payroll reporting, support audit activities, and assist in ensuring ongoing compliance with payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, and workplace obligations. 
• Act as the primary point of contact for payroll enquiries, resolving issues and providing accurate advice and support to employees and stakeholders. 
• Contribute to payroll process improvements, system enhancements, and the maintenance of payroll procedures and documentation. 

 About You: 

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Payroll Officer or similar role 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook and experience using payroll systems (e.g., Employment Hero) 
• Experience working with modern awards and enterprise agreements in a healthcare or similar setting.  
• Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, and superannuation requirements. 
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy 
• Excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills 
• Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion 
• Exposure to award-based environments and/or healthcare is highly desirable
